It happened in the 2800 block of Memorial Drive S.E. at around 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5 while the restaurant was open.

In a Thursday news release, police said two men hooked a yellow strap to the ATM in the foyer of the eatery. It’s alleged they then tried to drag the machine out of the building with a vehicle.

They weren’t successful and left the area in an SUV when approached by staff.

Police describe both men as being in their late 20s or early 30s and say the SUV may be a BMW X5.

It’s unknown if this incident may be connected to a successful ATM theft at a strip mall in Lake Bonavista that happened the next day.
