Police executed a search warrant at a home in the Newton area two days after Surrey teen Kiran Dhesi was found dead in a burned SUV on Aug. 2.
It’s the latest piece of information to emerge from the case of a college student whose death was marked with a vigil that drew around 100 people earlier this month.

Details about the search warrant are scarce — the warrant has been sealed and Global News can’t even know the name of the judge who oversaw it. So it’s unclear what police were looking for in the home.
Witnesses in the neighbourhood said the property was taped off hours after Dhesi’s body was found and that dozens of investigators descended on the area and then stayed for about a week.

“Police were coming around, asking questions, asking if we heard a loud bang,” one witness told Global News.
“Neighbours said that cops were very eager to get any video footage, kind of pushing them to go back as far as they could.”
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has not confirmed whether the home is connected to the Dhesi case and they’re not releasing any information about potential suspects.
IHIT would only say they’re talking to persons of interest. There have been no charges.
On Thursday, as Global News was investigating, a man came out of the property screaming and smashed the station’s micro-van with a baseball bat.
On Wednesday, Global News attempted to speak to a woman on the property as she was leaving.
She told the station to leave.
