Temperatures in Calgary got hot enough to break a 21-year record on Wednesday.
Global Calgary meteorologist Paul Dunphy said the temperature reached 33.0 C in the afternoon.
That’s up from the previously set record high of 32.4 C, which was recorded at the Calgary International Airport on Aug. 30, 1996.
Dunphy said cooler temperatures of about 28 C, which is still above seasonal, are expected Thursday as a cold front moves through.

However, the cold front could make for more smoky conditions and poorer air quality.
