Power out to thousands in West Kelowna because of motor vehicle crash

UPDATE – BC Hydro now expects the electricity will be restored at about 6:00 p.m.

Company spokesperson, Dag Sherman, says a flatbed truck hit a power pole guide line on Shannon Lake Road.

That caused considerable damage to a transformer and electrical lines attached to the pole.

 

Thousands of West Kelowna residents lost electrical service Tuesday.

The power went out just before 1:30 p.m. because of a downed line.

BC Hydro says the outage affected 5,153 homes and businesses.

Repairs should be completed by about 4:00 p.m.
