The group Colonialism No More has also launched a petition for the removal of the statue of Canada’s first Prime Minister.

However, one man later removed the plastic – saying he doesn’t want to see this happen to Canada’s history.

A recent Angus Reid poll showed the majority of Canadians do not support the idea of removing John A. Macdonald’s name from any Canadian schools – but opposition was strongest here in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
