Stolen ID charges for 3 people attempting to elude Saskatoon police

Three people are facing 69 charges, many related to stolen identity, after attempting to elude Saskatoon police in a U-Haul van.

The van was spotted by patrol officers Sunday evening in the 600-block of Confederation Drive.

Officers said it was being driven in a suspicious manner and they attempted to pull it over.

The driver refused to stop and drove off in a dangerous manner, according to the officers.

The air support unit was called in and aided the officers on the ground, who were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device.

The van was abandoned on Dalmeny Road and three people took off on foot and attempted to hide in a field.

They were tracked down by officers and a police dog and taken into custody.

One woman was treated for dog bites.

Officers said a search of the van turned up bags of identification and credit cards belonging to other people.

Two Prince Albert women, 21 and 26, and a 31-year-old man are charged with possession of identity documentation and possession of stolen property.

The 26-year-old woman is also charged with possession of hydromorphone and breach of probation.

The 31-year-old man is also facing charges of dangerous driving and evading police.

They are scheduled to appear Monday afternoon in Saskatoon provincial court.
