Family elevator goes up in flames at Tramping Lake, Sask.

A family elevator in west-central Saskatchewan has been destroyed by fire.

Flames broke out at the elevator in Tramping Lake on Saturday afternoon.

Kerrobert, Wilkie and Unity fire departments responded to the scene and neighbours helped clear what they could out of the elevator before the fire spread.

The elevator held about 35,000 bushels of yellow peas with an estimated value of over $250,000.

Brian Kohlman said he will start working on insurance on Monday, but his focus is ensuring he can harvest his canola and prepare lentils.

Tramping Lake is approximately 170 kilometres west of Saskatoon.
