A Kelvington company has been fined in a 2014 Saskatchewan workplace death.

A 43-year-old man from Kelvington was fatally injured on Oct. 21, 2014 when the packer he was operating at a worksite on Highway 18 just west of Mankota rolled over him.

He died at the scene from his injuries.

101186505 Saskatchewan Ltd. was charged under occupational health and safety regulations with failing to ensure that a worker operating powered mobile equipment was using a seat belt or other restraining device, resulting in the death of a worker.

The company pleaded guilty to the violations in Swift Current provincial court on Aug. 22 and was fined $50,000 plus a $20,000 surcharge.

One other charge against the company was stayed.
