The heavily damaged Mercedes was found off the roadway in a field and the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by fire crews and was rushed to a local hospital before being airlifted to London.
A section of Highway 81 was closed for nearly eleven hours before reopening just before 3:30 p.m. Monday. The crash remains under investigation but Huron OPP report alcohol is believed to have played a role.
