A pedestrian is dead after a fatal collision in Montreal’s Lachine borough.
Officers received a 911 call around 10:50 a.m. Monday.
“The pedestrian didn’t have time to cross the intersection completely.”
Couture explained the truck driver was waiting at a red light, heading north on Saint-Pierre Avenue.
He accelerated while the pedestrian, a senior, was in front of him.
“The victim’s death was confirmed on the scene,” Couture said.
“The truck driver is being treated for shock.”
Investigators are currently on the scene to determine the circumstances leading up to the incident.
