A family is speaking out Friday, a day after their harrowing rescue on the waters near Porteau Cove.
A father and his two sons were crabbing off Anvil Island in Howe Sound on Thursday afternoon when a rogue wave hit their boat.
The four-metre vessel capsized and the family had just seconds to grab their life jackets before the boat overturned, tossing them into the water.
They tried to whistle for help but say passing boats ignored that call. The family say they were in the water for four hours before they were rescued.

The dad was eventually able to swim to shore for help and the Coast Guard came to their rescue.
“It happened in seconds,” said boater Mike Forstved. “And then we’re in the water.”
