A crash on Highway 401 near Port Hope on Aug. 3 claimed the lives of two men – Aug 4, 2017

Police have identified the victims of a fiery crash on Highway 401 near Port Hope last week.

Around 10 p.m. on Aug. 3, police, paramedics and fire crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound lanes of the highway. Police say a tractor trailer collided with two other vehicles which resulted in a fire.

Two people were killed. They’ve been identified as Todd Gardiner, 26, of Newscastle, Ont., and Michael Glazier, 35, of Guelph, Ont. Police say they were travelling together in a pickup truck.

Two other drivers in the collision were taken to Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg with non-life threatening injuries.

The section of highway just east of County Road 28 was closed for more than 12 hours.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
