OPP names victims of fatal pileup along Hwy. 401 near Chatham

Two people killed in a chain-reaction crash on Highway 401 near Chatham last weekend have been identified.

Chatham-Kent OPP say a tractor trailer collided with five other vehicles in the highway’s westbound lanes near Dillon Road around 4:40 p.m. Sunday.

The vehicles were stopped as a result of a separate collision.

Officers say two passengers in a pickup truck involved in the crash, 42-year-old Lacie Brundritt and 14-year-old Kyle Brundritt, both of Amherstburg, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 39-year-old man driving the pickup truck suffered serious injuries while a 12-year-old boy who was another passenger in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and anyone who may have dash camera footage or other video records of the incident is asked to contact the Chatham-Kent OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
