A tour boat with 21 people on board had to be rescued Monday night after it started taking on water.

Marine Search and Rescue said the incident took place just before 7 p.m. about a mile northwest of Point Roberts, WA.

“It was the United States Coast Guard that did the initial coordinating because it was in their waters,” said acting regional manager Colin Henthorne.

Henthorne said there were nearby boats that were able to aid with the rescue.

“By the time our resources arrived, all the passengers had been taken off into two other tour boats. Two crew remained on board and pumped the vessel out.”
