Student rushed to hospital after being hit by car near Winnipeg school

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a crash involving a student from a nearby high school on Redonda Street Monday.

Police confirmed one person was rushed to hospital in unstable condition around 1:10 p.m. The student was later upgraded to stable.

A spokesperson with River East Transcona School Division confirmed the student was from Murdoch McKay and was hit by a car.

Officers shut down the stretch of Redonda Street directly in front of the school for much of the afternoon. One vehicle appeared to be at the scene inside the police tape.
