Actor Alec Baldwin and Fifty Shades of Grey producer Dana Brunetti spent hours on Wednesday night engaging in a Twitter war.

Earlier this week, Brunetti called out Baldwin for allegedly lying in his new memoir, titled Nevertheless.

In the book, published Tuesday, Baldwin claims that when he shot the 2006 film Mini’s First Time, he was misled by the producers about the age of his co-star Nikki Reed, who was 16 at the time.

In the film, Baldwin portrays a character named Martin Tennan who has an affair with his stepdaughter, Minerva “Mini” Drogues, played by Reed.

“I was 47, and it never occurred to me to ask how old Nikki Reed was. When I found out, just as we finished, that she was 17, I flipped out on the producers, who had told me something different,” Baldwin writes.

Brunetti claimed that Baldwin was fully aware that Reed was underage throughout the course of filming. The film’s director, Nick Guthe, as well as another producer, Evan Astrowsky, backed Brunetti’s claim in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Baldwin refused to back down and went after Brunetti on Twitter in a lengthy back-and-forth exchange.

The feud began with Baldwin tweeting, “And Hollywood producers like Brunetti never do anything shady or unethical?”

Then Baldwin began demanding that Brunetti produce a release form from the Screen Actors Guild regarding Reed’s age, and Brunetti threatened to “bury” Baldwin.

Brunetti responded by telling Baldwin that he should “look at it as good publicity for your book of lies.”

Baldwin responded by asking for Brunetti’s copy of SAG rules.

Brunetti responded by asking if Baldwin was going to continue to deny that he didn’t know Reed’s age.

Baldwin said he was told that Reed was 16 “by her hairdresser at the end of the shoot.”

Brunetti responded by referencing Reed’s 2003 film, Thirteen.

And the feud continued back-and-forth for several more tweets.

Then things started to get personal. Baldwin made reference to Brunetti’s producing partner, Kevin Spacey, while Brunetti brought up Baldwin’s divorce from Kim Basinger.

The two began to take shots at each other’s work, and Baldwin even used the feud to promote his hosting duties for Match Game.

Brunetti asked if the feud was perhaps a ruse to get him to consider Baldwin for a role in an upcoming Fifty Shades film.

Guthe pitched in by tweeting, “How have I only gained 12 followers from all of this?”

“It’s a lie,” Brunetti told The Hollywood Reporter about Baldwin’s claim in his new memoir. “I read it and was like, ‘What the f—. Of course he totally knew how old she was. That’s why there’s no nudity in the movie. He knew before we even cast the movie. I think he’s been method-acting Trump too much and he doesn’t know the difference between fake news anymore.”

Nudity under 18 is potentially allowable under California law, but it would need to be approved by the Child Labor Board.

Reed did not join in on the Twitter exchange, but she did tweet Thursday about her latest project.
