A man shot by police in Salmon Arm, B.C., earlier this year made a court appearance by video from the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.
Kaymen Winter, 22, was recently released from hospital, where he spent months recovering from gunshot injuries.
It was Monday, Jan. 30, just after midnight when RCMP received a report of a theft in progress at the Xcalibur Car Wash.
In a news release, RCMP said the man attempted to escape in a vehicle and an altercation resulted in shots fired by police.
Winter is facing more than 20 charges in connection to the incident including possession of stolen property, carrying, using, or threatening to use a weapon, resisting or obstruction of a police officer, theft and mischief.
A bail hearing has been scheduled for April 24 in Kamloops.
Meanwhile, the shooting is being investigated by the Independent Investigation Office of BC to determine if police may have committed any criminal acts during the encounter with Winter.
