The Central Okanagan Regional District is doing its annual spring cleaning of its water systems.
Over the next two months, water mains in the regional district’s six water systems will be flushed to clear out any sediment that has built-up in the pipes.
The regional district is reminding residents their water could be discolored during or immediately after the flushing takes place in their neighbourhood. The regional district is telling residents not to do their laundry while flushing is going on in their area as clothing may be soiled by the discoloured water.
“If you experience discoloration, run the cold water tap until the water runs clear,” explained regional district spokesman Bruce Smith.
Water customers might also see a change in their water pressure during the flushing.
The regional district said it will be putting notice boards on local roads to tell residents when flushing is taking place in their area.
The water systems impacted are Falcon Ridge; Killiney Beach; Dietrich/Star Place/Trepanier; Westshore; Sunset Ranch; and Upper Fintry, Shalal Road, Valley of the Sun.
