A suspect has surrendered to Toronto police following a sexual assault incident involving a firearm on Thursday.
Toronto police had first reported a girl, 17, was allegedly sexually assaulted in an apartment unit in the Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue area.
Police stated the man had allegedly held a firearm to the girl’s head and did not allow her to leave the apartment unit. Once the girl had escaped and contacted police, a search warrant was executed at the address and a replica firearm was reportedly located.
The suspect’s photo was released on Saturday and officers had asked for the public’s help to locate him.
Anthony Pulido, 18, turned himself in to police a day later. He’s been charged with eight offences including sexual assault, forcible confinement, assault, pointing a firearm, and both mischief and theft under $5,000.
Pulido was scheduled to make a court appearance in North York on Monday morning.
Investigators have thanked the public for their assistance and urge anyone else with information to contact them at 416-808-3100 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
