Usually people are on their best behaviour when meeting a member of the royal family, but one boy just didn’t seem to be in the mood to stay still during a recent meeting with Queen Elizabeth.

The little boy, dressed in a suit with matching blue socks, started to make a scene when he was supposed to present Her Majesty with a bouquet of flowers on March 9.

In an attempt to be let go from the woman holding him (presumably his mother), the young boy began squirming around until she released him. He didn’t seem to want to stick around for the once-in-a-lifetime encounter with Queen Elizabeth as he quickly tried to make an escape.

But the woman he was with held on to his hand tightly as he tried to struggle to get away. Eventually, with a little help, a smiling Queen Elizabeth was given the flowers.

Queen Elizabeth was unveiling a national memorial, honouring the armed forces and civilians who served their country during the two Gulf Wars and the conflict in Afghanistan.

Prime Minister Theresa May and predecessors Tony Blair, John Major and David Cameron were among about 2,500 guests.

Prince William and his wife Kate attended, and Prince Harry spoke at the start of the ceremony, quoting from the Biblical book of Ecclesiastes: “A time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace.”

The Queen was accompanied by her husband, Prince Philip.

Some relatives of servicemen and women complained they were not invited to the event in central London.
