Nutritionist and baby-led weaning expert Jessica Coll shares her recipes for baby meals.

Easy Breakfast Cookies 

Ingredients and directions

1 cup (250 ml) pitted dates
1 egg
1 cup (250 ml) almond butter
Put the rack on the highest level in the oven.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Place the dates and eggs in a food processor. Mix until smooth.
Add the almond butter.
Shape dough into cookies approximately 1.5 inches (4 cm) in diameter and  ½ inch (1 cm) high, and place on cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.
Allow to cool and offer to baby.
Can be kept at room temperature for up to 7 days, in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Makes 16 cookies

Simple Burgers For Babies

Ingredients and directions

1 lb (450 g) ground veal or ground beef
1 apple, grated
½ cup (125 ml) onion, diced (½ small onion)
½ tbsp (7.5 ml) dried sage (optional)
½ tbsp (7.5 ml) pepper (optional)
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add all ingredients to a large bowl and mix to combine.
Form mini burgers about ⅓ the size of adult burgers, approximately 4 cm in diameter (1.5 in) by 2 cm (¾ in) in height.
Place on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
Let cool and offer to your baby. Great topped with homemade mayonnaise and a dill pickle with a side of roasted green beans.
Can be kept for up to 5 days in the refrigerator or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Makes 14 burgers
