Videos: Montreal snowstorm

MONTREAL – Some are calling it a snowmaggedon, others a snowpocalypse, but whatever it’s called, there’s no doubt that Montrealers faced an immense amount of snow on the day after Boxing Day.

Montreal’s previous record for snowfall – 43.2 centimetres in 1971 – was broken on Thursday, when up to 45 centimetres turned the city into a snow park.

Many took to social media to share their reaction to the snow, while others recorded what they saw for posterity on YouTube.

Take a look at the videos Montrealers posted, showing how the city coped with nearly a foot and a half of snow.

With a car to dig out, who really wants to drive?

Thursday was garbage day for many Montreal boroughs – and believe it or not, our public service workers wouldn’t let a record snowfall stop them… but one did run into an icy patch.

If you did get behind the wheel – take a look at what you faced along Montreal highways. There are people in those cars along the side of the road!

Even Montreal wildlife faced a few challenges. Take this squirrel for example…

Last, but not least, check out this lovely time lapse video of the record snowfall.
