Santas Anonymous delivers toys to thousands of children

Thousands of less fortunate children in the Edmonton area will now have a gift to open on Christmas morning thanks to the help of hundreds of volunteers.

Santas Anonymous is wrapping up its 2012 campaign this weekend, by delivering gifts to families all over the city.

This year, volunteers are delivering gifts to nearly 25,000 children in the Edmonton area.

Organizers say they’re blown away by the number of volunteers that show up to help, every year.

“It doesn’t get old. It’s just astronomical how everybody comes through to make sure that a child has a gift on Christmas morning,” explained Executive Director Lana Nordlund.

She says the entire process really showcases the sense of community and support Edmontonians have to offer.

“It’s just fantastic that we’re able to put a box in a public place, people drop things in it, volunteers pick it up, volunteers wrap it and prepare it and it goes out and it makes so many people happy.”

This is the 58th year of the campaign.

Volunteers will be out delivering gifts again on Sunday beginning at 10a.m.
