Operations resume at Capital Packers

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has lifted the suspension on Capital Packers Inc.’s operating licence.

Following additional food safety testing and a thorough food safety investigation, the establishment was allowed to resume production on Wednesday, December 5.

Capital Packers will continue to be under the microscope, as it will be subject to intensified monitoring by the CFIA, until further notice officials say.

The CFIA says it has determined that the corrective action request related to recall procedures and traceback have been met and that the company has adequate controls in place to meet federal food safety standards.

The CFIA’s food safety investigation also concluded that there are no additional potentially unsafe products on the market.

Capital Packers’ operating licence was suspended in late November, after CFIA officials found adequate controls for food safety were not being implemented on a consistent basis in the facility, which is located in north Edmonton.
