One southbound lane of Highway 63 was reopened Tuesday morning after a collision that caused an oil spill shut down the busy Alberta highway Monday afternoon.
The crash was about 50 kilometres south of Fort McMurray, near Hangingstone River. Traffic was rerouted on Highway 881 overnight.
It happened at about 3:30 p.m. Mounties said a tanker truck hauling oil stopped on the side of the road because of mechanical issues. Another truck, heading south, hit the tanker, spilling the oil. An estimated 50,000 litres of oil spilled, RCMP said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no serious injuries were reported. RCMP said no charges have been laid.
At 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, RCMP said there were still crews on scene cleaning up, so drivers were asked to be careful when passing the workers.
Mounties said an update will be sent when the highway is completely open.
