Halifax police searching for 2 suspects after alleged assault during home invasion

Halifax Regional Police are searching for two suspects after a man complained he was assaulted by two who people broke into his home on Herring Cove Road.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening, police responded to a report that a home was broken into by two male intruders.

The invasion happened in the 400-block of Herring Cove Road and the owner of the home told police he was in bed when he heard his door being forced in.

The complainant told police he left his bedroom to investigate the sounds he heard when he saw two men coming through his door.

The 64-year-old home owner told police two intruders assaulted him until neighbours came to his aid when they heard the commotion.

The neighbours chased off the two suspects, who are reported to be clean shaven and in their 20s.

One was wearing a black jacket with a hooded collar and was carrying a cane.

The other was wearing jeans, a black coat and had a large knife.

No serious injuries were suffered by the victim and the intruders are not known to him.

HRP are investigating this incident and asking the public for assistance in identifying the males and passing on any helpful information.
