LONDON – London-based Canadian label Erdem was among the big winners at the British Fashion Awards.
Montreal-born designer Erdem Moralioglu took home the New Establishment Award on Tuesday, an honour which recognizes a particular movement in British fashion that is taking the industry by storm.
Moralioglu was nominated alongside design duo Meadham Kirchhoff and Scottish-born designer Jonathan Saunders.
The Canadian-born talent moved to London to attend the Royal College of Art.

He moved to New York after graduation to work in the design studios of fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg before relocating to the U.K. to launch his eponymous label in 2005, known for its modern, feminine designs and vibrant, custom-designed prints.
Moralioglu has already cultivated an A-list fashion following with Oscar nominees Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley and Michelle Williams among those who have worn his designs. A famous royal fashion-plate also stepped out in his creations while visiting the designer’s home country.
During Prince William and Kate’s royal tour of Canada last year, the Duchess of Cambridge wore two separate sleeved lace dresses in Ottawa and Quebec City created by the award-winning designer.
The British Fashion Awards are an annual awards ceremony organized by the British Fashion Council, which saw 14 awards presented to leading figures in fashion.
Stella McCartney was named Designer of the Year, and also took home the Designer Brand award for her eponymous label.
Shoe designer Manolo Blahnik was awarded the special honour for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion in commemoration of his decades-long career.
