The Brick set up a temporary Christmas tree lot Dec. 3 and handed out nearly 200 free trees and 100 wreaths in the hard-hit Beacon Hill neighbourhood.
“We have been part of the Fort McMurray community since 1982 and this was our way of helping to make a difficult holiday season a little easier and a little brighter for our friends and neighbours,” The Brick president Dave Freeman said in a statement. There are two Brick locations in the northeastern Alberta community.

The video, posted to YouTube, had over 61,000 views as of Friday at 12 p.m. MT.
The most heartwarming part of the video shows staff visiting the home of Allan and Ivy Cruz. The couple and their two young daughters lost everything in the fire and are spending Christmas in a temporary residence while Habitat for Humanity builds them a new home.
Watch the video to see what The Brick brought the family and why Ivy Cruz said she was “overwhelmed” by support from both the furniture company and the larger community.
