The Coast Guard is investigating a sheen on the water in English Bay on Wednesday.
According to Coast Guard spokesperson Leri Davies, the source of the sheen has not been determined and there is a diesel smell in the area. She went on to say the slick is floating on the surface of the water and not recoverable.

Davies said that the slick may look large, but the layer of pollutant is just 0.005 millimetres thick.
“Unfortunately, sheens like this are common in a busy port like Vancouver,” she said.
