The Kelowna Rockets beat the Kootenay Ice 7-3 Saturday night in Cranbrook.

It was another good night for Calvin Thurkauf as he scored twice in the first frame of the game.

The Rockets also got a shorthanded goal in the first period thanks to Rodney Southam to give Kelowna a 3-0 lead going into the second period.

The Ice set of a flurry of flying teddy bears early in the second period with their first goal of the night.

When the stuffed animals were cleared away, Leif Mattson scored his second goal of the year for the Rockets, bringing the score to 4-1.

The Ice scored another in the second before Kole Lind scored his 17th of the season to put Kelowna ahead 5-2 heading into the third.

Jake Kryski scored twice and Devante Stephens added one for the Rockets in the third.

The Kootenay Ice managed one more goal, but the game ended with the Rockets four points in front, 7-3.
