An 18-year-old girl who died in a car accident on a Pennsylvania highway Tuesday was live streaming on Facebook the moment a tractor-trailer crashed into the car she was driving.

State police said Brooke Miranda Hughes was broadcasting on Facebook Live while she was driving slowly in the right lane of Interstate 380 near Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania.

Her friend, 19-year-old Chaniya Morrison-Toomey, was heard saying, “are you going live,” in the video. Before Hughes could answer, lights flashed inside the car, followed by the sound of screeching tires, according to a report by the Scranton Times-Tribune.

Both teens died in the accident.

According to the Times-Tribune, the haunting video continued for another seven minutes, showing only blackness. At the end, a man is heard speaking and a blurry, bearded face can be seen before it ends.

Pennsylvania State police are investigating whether or not the teens were driving with a flat tire or a spare tire. The fiery wreck badly damaged the car, making it difficult to determine its original condition. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

The video was viewed nearly 7,000 times before it was removed from the victim’s Facebook page; however, police will use the footage as part of their investigation.

Piasecki was reportedly with the girls in the car the same night, but was dropped off at home before the accident.

“They were both down-to-Earth people,” she said. “They had good personalities. They had smiles that could light up dark rooms. Anytime you were with them it was always fun.”
