Cape Breton police charge man in decade old murder

Harold “Buster” Slaunwhite, was found murdered in his residence at 97 Brooke Street in Dominion on September 10, 2006. Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes

Charges have been laid in the homicide of Harold “Buster” Slaunwhite, who was found dead inside his Dominion, N.S. home on Sept. 10, 2006.

“It’s been just over 10 years since Buster Slaunwhite was found murdered in his Dominion home; it was a tragic and horrific crime, and one that we never once stopped working to solve,” Cape Breton Regional Police Chief Peter McIsaac said in a release.

Since 2014, The RCMP major crime unit has been working with Cape Breton police on the investigation.

“Today’s charges represent the hard work of dozens of police officers from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Cape Breton Regional Police Service,” said RCMP Insp. Lynn Young.

“The investigators worked tirelessly to find the person responsible for taking Harold’s life.”

Police say the killing was an ‘isolated incident’ and not a random act.

Raymond Glenn Farrow, 49, of Glace Bay was arrested Wednesday and has been arraigned on a charge of first-degree murder.

Slaunwhite’s murder was part of Nova Scotia’s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers cash rewards of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction in unsolved cases. Police will not say whether a tip from the program led to the arrest of Farrow.
