Firefighters were called to a burning building shortly before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

The fire started in the back of a butcher shop and spread to the roof located at 44 Henri-Bourassa Boulevard West, according to John Primiani, chief of operations at the Montreal Fire Department.

“The police were passing by and saw the smoke and called the fire department,” Primiani said.

The fire was extinguished within an hour.

The damages to the food and building totaled approximately $100,000.

Nobody was injured and the fire did not spread to other businesses.
