PRINCE RUPERT, B.C. – A container ship has had a bumpy arrival in Canada after running aground at the mouth of the channel leading to Prince Rupert Harbour on B.C.’s north coast.
The 278-metre-long Hanjin Geneva was trying to avoid a fishing vessel, as it entered the harbour at around 10:30 Tuesday night.

Port officials say it doesn’t appear the Geneva has been damaged, and all aboard are okay.
High tide finally lifted the huge vessel off the bottom about nine hours after it ran aground.
Pilot vessels and tugs escorted it the rest of the way into port where an inspection was ordered.
The German-registered container ship was arriving from Shanghai when it had to make the sudden course change to avoid the fish boat in waters off tiny Coast Island, just a few kilometres south of Geneva’s intended dock. (CJFW)
