TORONTO – Expect a slow commute Wednesday morning as patches of dense fog roll through the Greater Toronto Area.
Widespread fog has developed overnight across many parts of southern Ontario including Toronto, Environment Canada warns in a special weather statement.
Fog may become dense at times, reducing visibility to 200 metres or less.
Motorists are urged to use extra caution.
Porter Airlines, which flies out of Billy Bishop Airport on Toronto Island, is asking passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport as flights may be delayed due to weather.

As of 4 a.m. there are no delays at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
The fog is expected to lift later this morning as temperatures climb to a high of 11 C at Pearson airport.
Normal daytime high for November 21 is 6 C with a low of minus 1.
Meanwhile, residents in the GTA can expect a colder, snowier winter compared to last year, said Global News’ meteorologist Antony Farnell in his winter outlook.
“This winter season will get off to a quick start in early December with cold and snow arriving around the Great Lakes and even into Toronto,” said Farnell. The pattern will relax for a time later in the month and again in January but overall I think the temperature this winter will be slightly below normal.”
Farnell doesn’t think Toronto will be hit with monster storms — rather, gradual accumulation.
“We will get most of the snow from clippers that deliver 5 to 15cm of snow at a time rather than monster storms. There is still the chance for one or two large Nor’Easters to track far enough west to bring heavier storms to the GTA.”
