Two people are dead and one person is in hospital after multiple shootings Sunday night.
It started shortly before 11 p.m. in Pointe-Aux-Trembles, east of downtown Montreal, leading local police and the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) to chase a suspect to the Quartier Dix 30 in Brossard in the south shore.
The incident began in an Esso parking lot on the corner of Sherbrooke and Saint-Jean-Baptiste streets.
A 21 year-old-man opened fire on a woman, 49, hitting her on the upper body.
She was taken to hospital in critical condition.
“Fifteen minutes past midnight, the doctor told us she was dead from her injuries,” said Benoit Boisselle with Montreal police.

Police responded to 911 calls, but the suspect fled the gas station in the victim’s car before they arrived.
The vehicle was later found damaged on the corner of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Notre-Dame streets.
A witness said they saw a man run away after abandoning it.
Shortly after, a nearby resident called 911 call to say he had been shot through his door by a man, injuring him on the lower body.
The 64-year-old said he was shot after the suspect demanded the keys to his car.
The victim is expected to recover.
Montreal police chased the suspect after stealing the second car, but lost track of him near the Lafontaine Tunnel on Route 132.
The SQ later found the car abandoned near the intersection of Highways 30 and 10.
The suspect found on foot heading towards the Quartier Dix 30, where he was arrested by Longueuil police.
“We don’t know if he’s known by our service or anything like that,” said Boisselle.
Montreal police confirmed there is a a link between the suspect and the body of a 20-year-old man that had been found earlier in Pointe-Aux-Trembles on the corner of Sainte-Catherine Street and 1st Avenue.
