‘SNL’ roasts Donald Trump Twitter addiction, Trump immediately responds on Twitter

This weekend’s Saturday Night Live opened with a sketch making fun of Donald Trump for his inability to stay off of Twitter. Within minutes, the president-elect bashed the sketch on Twitter.

The scene opened with a high school kid being chastised by his teacher for tweeting in class and when the schoolboy declares he was retweeted, the teacher asks, “who would retweet you?”

The scene then shifts to Trump Tower, where Trump, portrayed by Alec Baldwin, tells his advisor Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon), “Kellyanne, I just retweeted the best tweet. I mean, wow, what a great, smart tweet.”

Trump is then interrupted by a security advisor, played by Kenan Thompson, who asks, “Mr. Trump, can this not wait? We are in a national security briefing.”

To which Trump responds, “I know but this could not wait, it was from a young man named Seth. He’s 16 and he’s in high school and I really did retweet him. Seriously. This is real.”

Conway adds, “he really did do this.”

The security advisors attempt to get Trump to focus on national security but he remains focussed on his phone.

“God, Seth seems so cool,” Trump says. “His Twitter bio says he wants to make America great again.”

Conway interrupts Trump to say, “there is a reason actually that Donald tweets so much. He does it to distract the media from his business conflicts and all the scary people in his cabinet.”

But then Trump provides the real reason for his tweeting.

Actually that’s not why I do it. I do it. I do it because my brain is bad,” Trump declares. “But I promise I am done retweeting. I am ready to buckle down and get to work.”

Trump, of course, is unable to last two minutes before he is back retweeting again as you can see in the above video.

Within 45 minutes of the sketch airing, Trump took to Twitter to declare Baldwin’s impersonation to be “Sad.”
