Air ambulances able to land at all Metro Vancouver hospitals again

Air ambulances will once again be landing at all Metro Vancouver hospitals after some flights were suspended earlier this year.

The service is contracted to Heiljet  but some flights were unable to land at certain hospitals due to technical concerns raised by Transport Canada.

The federal transport agency recently decided that the fleet of Sikorsky 76C helicopters run by Helijet International Inc. did not meet the requirements for a safe landing and take-off in heavily populated areas.

Some patients had to be flown to other hospitals and then driven to their nearest facility.
