Some drivers just can’t seem to leave their phones alone.
Kelowna RCMP conducted two spot-checks targeting distracted driving last week — ticketing dozens of drivers.
The first crackdown happened last Tuesday. It lasted three hours during which time 36 tickets were issued for illegal use of an electronic device while behind the wheel.
The second crackdown took place last Friday and lasted a little more than four hours. A total of 46 tickets for distracted driving were issued. An additional 20 were handed out for other infractions including failing to wear a seatbelt and driving without a valid driver’s licence.
The fine for using an electronic device while driving is $368.
