One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 6 near Pleasantdale, Sask.

Melfort RCMP said the crash between a southbound SUV and a northbound truck and trailer happened Monday at around 1:15 p.m. approximately one kilometre south of the community.

The driver of the SUV, a woman from Naicam, Sask., was declared dead at the scene. Her name and age have not been released.

The driver of the truck and other passengers in the vehicles were treated at the scene by paramedics.

The highway was closed for several hours while a traffic reconstructionist investigated.

RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the crash but said alcohol was not a factor.
