A 13-year-old girl allegedly swarmed near the Kingsway LRT Station Thursday afternoon, said it was her schoolmates that sent her to hospital.
She sustained non-life threatening injuries in the attack. The minor, whose identity Global News is not revealing, is now recovering at home.
The victim had plans to hang out with friends after school. She was led to the spot where the assault reportedly took place, but when she arrived a group of people were waiting for her.
“I grabbed my stuff and was walking and I got like ten steps away until they pushed me,” she said Saturday.
“I just grabbed my phone and my bus pass and I left. I had to get out of there. And then they weren’t over, so they grabbed me and smashed my head in the ground four times and they started punching and kicking.”
According to the victim, the beating lasted from 10 to 15 minutes before anyone tried to help her.

“I was so scared. I was hoping there were people that would jump in,” she said. “When I peeked out, just seeing all these adults looking at me, not helping.”
“If I saw that happening, I would help. I don’t care what would happen to me. I would just go and help.”
Two young teens stepped in to stop the violence and took the victim to hospital where she received treatment for her injuries.
The victim and her father told Global News what happened Thursday is part of a bigger issue. They say she has been bullied since September while attending an Edmonton public school.
“We’ve been having problems with this for a while and we’ve told them it’s these two girls,” said the girl’s father.
While both the victim and her dad say two females are at the centre of the bullying, they say several people took part in the assault. They add the victim has been subjected to both physical intimidation and verbal abuse over social media and text message.
In fact, following the attack she says she has received several more threatening text messages from individuals suggesting the bullying is not over.
Edmonton Public Schools is not commenting on the specifics of the case, but says student safety at all of its schools is a priority.
Edmonton Police say no arrests have been made.
