She was last seen at about 7 a.m. Thursday.
Officials say the search has now been suspended and they are hoping for tips from the public.
Family and police are concerned because Barrett needs medication.
“With the weather that we’ve had, and have had all day, we’re just concerned for her safety,” said Richard Laing from Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue.
Barrett is thought to be wearing a grey hoodie and dark slacks when she was last seen. She also might be wearing a knit brown hat.
If anyone sees Barrett they are asked to call 604 463-6251.
NOTE: An earlier version of this article stated that Lorraine Barrett was 74 years old. Ridge Meadows RCMP say she is actually 72 years old.
