GO Transit back on track after fixing cable snipped by vandals

TORONTO – GO Transit says a signal problem that was causing delays on its Lakeshore East line this morning has been fixed.

Service is back to normal between Oshawa and Union station but GO says the problem slowed down some trains on the Lakeshore West line.

A signal cable was severed (between Guildwood and Rouge Hill) and GO Transit says it was caused by vandalism.

Police have been called in to investigate.

GO says on its website that the 6:13 a.m. train between Union Station and Burlington, as well as the 7:13 a.m. train between Burlington and Union Station, were delayed by 11 minutes.

No other delays have been reported.
