Alberta-wide warrants were issued for 47-year-old Michael Wayne Lamontagne of Red Deer after a woman was robbed at gunpoint Nov. 11.
RCMP said a woman was approached as she got out of her car in the West Park neighbourhood by a man who had a handgun and demanded money.
When the woman got back inside her car and locked it, the man smashed the car window and took her backpack as she escaped out the passenger door, Mounties said.
She wasn’t physically injured and the suspect ran away.
Within an hour, RCMP were able to identify the suspect using surveillance video from a convenience store. RCMP said he used the woman’s credit card. He was in a truck driven by another woman and the truck was reported stolen out of Red Deer Nov. 1. The truck was recovered in Gasoline Alley on Nov. 12 after it was abandoned.
The female suspect was arrested Nov. 17.
Diane Fiddler, 44, faces charges under the Criminal Code for possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and fraud under $5,000.
RCMP are still looking for Lamontagne.
He is wanted on warrants for armed robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon contrary to a court order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and fraud under $5,000. He is also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for violating his parole.
Mounties said people should not approach Lamontagne since he may have a weapon.
