WINNIPEG– Get ready for a drastic change in weather. Snow, freezing rain and mixed precipitation are expected in Winnipeg and southeastern Manitoba.
This would be Winnipeg’s first November snowfall and drivers should prepare for messy driving conditions in southeastern Manitoba Tuesday morning.
Early Monday morning models were predicting the weather system could bring 5-10 cm of snow to Winnipeg and the Red River Valley area.
The models have since changed slightly. Winnipeg now looks like it’s on the cusp of the transition zone with snow and mixed precipitation. There is still a chance for the 5-10cm of snow by the end of Tuesday for Winnipeg and east of the city. Meantime there is a risk of freezing rain and mixed precipitation west to Portage la Prairie.
Southern Manitoba should also brace for a risk of freezing rain stretching from Killarney to Steinbach.
With temperatures hovering around the freezing mark through the evening and Tuesday, the ground temperatures will be about the same so it’s hard to predict what will fall or if it will freeze or melt on contact.
