Quebec National Assembly passes Bill 105 on school board elections

After months of discussions and two rounds of public hearings, Bill 105 was passed in the National Assembly today, Thursday, November 17, 2016. Global News

After months of discussions and two rounds of public hearings, Bill 105 was passed in the National Assembly on Thursday.

The new bill replaces the controversial Bill 86 where the government attempted to get rid of school board elections.

The anglophone community expressed outrage over Bill 86 because they said it infringed on minority English rights.

The new law will allow for school board elections to take place and also make room for greater involvement by parents in the management of their schools.
