Unionized Saskatoon Transit workers have been without an operating contract since 2012 and have recently taken job action.
Here are five things you need to know to stay informed:
1) Pension Plan
The city and Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 615 disagree on a stipulation in the pension plan. The city wants to be able to renegotiate pensions down the road in the event there is a funding shortfall due to pension forecasting. But the union does not, they want to lock down a set pension plan.

2) Job Action
The ATU has been in a legal strike position since Sept. 19, but didn’t take job action until Nov. 12 when the union instituted a work to rule campaign and a ban on overtime.
Work to rule means employees are expected to follow all regulations including taking full scheduled breaks and leaving on time.
A ban on overtime means they cannot work beyond contract hours or volunteer for extra shifts.

3) Service Disruptions
Riders can expect to see service disruptions in the form of delays, cancellations and overcrowding on some buses. These disruptions can change daily so it’s important to keep updated.
