Saskatoon Transit routes disrupted Wednesday by ATU 615 job action

City officials say several Saskatoon Transit routes will be disrupted on Wednesday by ATU 615 job action. File / Global News

Job action by members of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 615 will affect several Saskatoon Transit routes on Wednesday.

City officials said drivers refusing to overtime and working to ruling is forcing them to cancel a number of afternoon school routes:

  • Routes 315 and 341 – servicing Bedford Road, E.D. Feehan and Mont Royal high schools starting at 3:44 p.m. has been cancelled. Students will be required to use Route 5, which may experience a high volume of passengers resulting in full buses.
  • Route 331, 335 and 338 – servicing Aden Bowman, Walter Murray and Holy Cross High schools leaving at 3:30 p.m. has been cancelled. Students will be required to use Route 81, which may experience a high volume of passengers resulting in full buses.
  • Route 332 – servicing Holy Cross starting at 3:25 p.m. has been cancelled. Students will be required to use Route 81, which may experience a high volume of passengers resulting in full buses.
  • Route 335 – servicing Walter Murray starting at 3:35 p.m. has been cancelled. Students will be required to use Route 81, which may experience a high volume of passengers resulting in full buses.
  • Route 348 and 339 – servicing Bethlehem and Tommy Douglas schools starting at 3:25 p.m. will be cancelled today. Students will have to catch Route 23, which may experience a high volume of passengers resulting in full buses.
  • Route 354 – servicing Centennial at 1:50 p.m. has been cancelled. Students will be required to use Route 40, which may experience a high volume of passengers resulting in full buses.

Along with those school routes, some regular routes are also cancelled:

  • Route 7 – servicing Tommy Douglas and Bethlehem high schools at 3:46 p.m. cancelled.
  • Route 20 South Industrial Special – 4:06 p.m. and 5:06 p.m. buses are cancelled.
  • Route 22 Montgomery via Confederation – leaving the Downtown Terminal at 3:29 p.m., 4:29 p.m. and 4:59 p.m. is cancelled today.
  • Route 22 Montgomery – leaving Confederation Terminal at 3:29 p.m. is cancelled.
  • Route 23 Blairmore – leaving Confederation Mall at 3:47 p.m., 4:24 p.m. and 4:54 p.m. are cancelled.
  • Route 23 Hampton Village – leaving Shaw Centre at 3:40 p.m. is cancelled.
  • Route 23 – servicing Tommy Douglas and Bethlehem high schools at 3:35 p.m. cancelled.
  • Route 101 University Direct – cancelled at 2:40 p.m. Passenger will be required to catch Route 50 Lakeview or Route 55 Lakeridge, which may experience a high volume of passengers resulting in full buses.
  • Abilities Council Special #1 – cancelled. Passengers will have to catch the Route 19 City Centre or Route 1 City Centre, which may experience a high volume of passengers resulting in full buses.
  • City Centre Special – leaving Sask. Polytechnic at 3:07 p.m. cancelled. Passengers will have to catch Route 7, Route 30 or Route 35, which may experience high volumes of passengers which could result in full buses.

Riders on the following routes can expect delays and/or overcrowding due to limited resources:

  • Route 2 Meadowgreen may experience a high volume of passengers between 3:44 p.m. and 5:44 p.m., which could result in full buses.
  • Route 4 Willowgrove Square riders – travelling to Willowgrove may experience a high volume of passengers between 2:20p.m. and 5:20 p.m., which could result in full buses.
  • Route 5 McComack – leaving the downtown terminal may experience a high volume of passengers between 3:16 p.m. and 5:16 p.m., which could result in full buses.
  • Route 6 – riders travelling to the Downtown Terminal may experience a high volume of passengers between 3:21 p.m. and 3:51 p.m., which could result in full buses.
  • Route 6 Market Mall via Preston riders travelling to Market Mall may experience a high volume of passengers between 4:07 p.m. and 4:37 p.m., which could result in full buses.
  • Route 17 Stonebridge – riders leaving the U of S terminal may experience a high volume of passengers at 4:41 p.m., which could result in full buses.
  • Route 18 – leaving the U of S terminal may experience a high volume of passengers between 3:37 p.m. and 5:37 p.m., which could result in full buses
  • Route 45 Kenderdine – leaving the U of S terminal may experience a high volume of passengers between 3:37 p.m. and 5:37 p.m., which could result in full buses.
  • Route 50 Lakeview – leaving the U of S terminal will experience a high volume of passengers between 3:21 p.m. and 5:21 p.m., which could result in full buses.
  • Route 55 Lakeridge – leaving the U of S terminal may experience a high volume of passengers between 2:35 p.m. and 5:35 p.m., which could result in full buses.
  • Route 82 – leaving the U of S terminal may experience a high volume of passengers between 3:44 p.m. and 5:44 p.m., which could result in full buses.

Transit officials said they are reducing bus frequencies on some routes in response to the refusal of transit drivers to work overtime.

Access Transit is not affected as it is an essential service.
