The major crimes unit with the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has taken over the investigation of a shooting in Mascouche after a man was shot as he arrived home Monday evening.

SQ spokesperson Christine Coulombe said the 32-year-old man was struck by at least one bullet. He was transferred to a Montreal-area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Police said they believe the incident may be linked to organized crime.

“That’s why the file was transferred,” explained Coulombe.
No arrests have been made.
