Temperatures in Calgary maxed out at 21.8°C Tuesday, breaking a heat record set back in 1923.

“That’s more like a mid-July temperature,” Global News meteorologist Paul Dunphy said.

The mercury was still sitting at an unseasonal 17°C by 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Another warm day, around 19°C is forecast for Wednesday, with a possibility of evening showers in the Calgary area.

“There is cooler air to the north and it is going to be slumping south [Wednesday],” Dunphy said, referencing a “fairly vigorous cold front” making its way into the southern portion of the province.

“The ridge rebounds nice and sharply for Thursday and into Friday as well. Daytime high temperatures are still going to be above the seasonal average, which right now is four degrees.”
